Sam fronted his first band at the age of 16, playing guitar and singing in CoasT. The group played many local gigs and gained a strong reputation as a top young band. When the 3 members finished school, and began moving in new directions, the band split. Within a month of their end, they were invited onto a tour of Germany and asked to headline London shows.
At this time, Sam left his singing behind and spent a year travelling, working and playing guitar for Blues/Rock outfit Blind 'n' Dangerous. When he moved to University, he formed UgLi, whom he toured the UK with for 18 months. During this time, the band were invited to record a live video in London for one of Sam's songs, "Robin Hood's Been Drinking." This video was aired regularly on a number of TV channels, as well as the MSN network, to potentially millions of viewers. Sam has had the honour of supporting such names as Joe Bonamassa, Doctor Feelgood, Aynsley Lister and Sean Webster.
UgLi ended during the summer of 2006 and Sam decided to return to singing and pursue a solo career. Choosing to perform primarily as a trio, Sam is joined on stage by Lee Happs on drums, and Scott Barnes on bass guitar, both experienced and accomplished musicians.
As a guitar player Sam is inspired and influenced by classic blues guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix. As a songwriter and singer, he always looked to artists like Mick Jagger, and contemporaries such as John Mayer and James Morrison. As a result his original material is soulful and bluesy, with the strong sense of a song.
Sam is accompanied in all his studio work by producer Wayne Proctor (Ian Parker, Amor, Aynsley Lister) and plans his first solo release for early in 2007.
